The Cedar Tavern was housed here in its third of four incarnations (1945-1963). When the bar was on this site, it became a hangout and incubator for Abstract Expressionist artists, such as Pollock, Rothko, and de Kooning; and Beat writers, such as Ginsberg and Kerouac.
