The Madison Square Presbyterian Church Was Here

Manhattan: Madison Square/
Northeast corner of E 24th St. and Madison Ave.

The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company bought the site of the Madison Square Presbyterian Church on the southeast corner of 24th Street and Madison avenue for its 1909 tower. The church used the proceeds to build a new church across the street on the northeast corner, designed by Stanford White. It stood for 13 years until that site too was sold to Metropolitan Life for the building of its annex.
