The World's Columbian Exposition Was Not Held Here

New Yorkers were shocked when Congress selected Chicago to host the Columbian Exposition over New York. Better planning and lobbying, along with a unified public relations effort, pushed Chicago over the top. Fear of Tammany Hall's corrupting influence, among other issues, did not help New York's bid. Morningside Park was the proposed site.
