"Broadway" Billy Rose staged his "Aquacade" water show at an amphitheater that stood here. The show, for the 1939 World's Fair, featured water ballet, diving champions, and a man-made Niagara. The structure served as the Hawaii and Florida pavilions for the 1964 World's Fair. It was demolished in 1996, after a stint as a city-run swimming pool.
