A Bomb Destroyed The House On This Site

Manhattan: Greenwich Village/
18 West 11th St.

Three members of the radical, anti-war Weathermen (later renamed the Weather Underground) died in the basement of the townhouse that stood here on March 6. The dynamite- and roofing nail-packed pipe bombs they were preparing went off prematurely, leveling the building. The townhouse built in its place features a section that appears dislodged and pivoted, jutting out from the facade--perhaps a nod to the event.
