The Siegel-Cooper Company of Chicago made its foray into New York retail a big one. Its "Big Store" was New York's largest until Macy's moved up to Herald Square. The fountain in the store's atrium featured a replica of the Republic, Daniel Chester French's centerpiece for Chicago's World's Columbian Exposition.
