Manhattan: Madison Square/
Southeast corner of Madison Ave. and E 26th St.
Financier Leonard Jerome's daughter Jenny grew up in the mansion he built for his family here. She went on to become Lady Randolph Churchill, mother of Winston Churchill. Later, the mansion served as the private Manhattan Club--hangout of such notable Democrats as FDR, Al Smith, and Grover Cleveland. The Manhattan cocktail was first served there. The mansion was torn down in 1967 to make way for the Merchandise Mart.
