The NAACP Silent March Began Here

Manhattan: Midtown North/
E 59th St and Fifth Ave

About 10,000 black Americans marched down Fifth Avenue in silence to protest lynching and discrimination. The march was organized in response to a July 2 race riot in East St. Louis, Illinois.
