Washington Was Inaugurated Here

Manhattan: Financial District/
Northeast corner of Wall St. and Nassau St.

Washington took the oath of office to become first president of the United States on the balcony of Federal Hall. That building, which served as New York's City Hall was replaced in 1842 with the current Greek Revival structure. The current building served as the US Customs House and then as the Sub-Treasury.
