Macy's Was Here

Manhattan: Greenwich Village/
Southwest corner of 14th St. and 6th Ave.

R.H. Macy's Dry Goods Store was located on this corner from 1858 until it moved up to Herald Square in 1902. An 1898 building, which still stands two doors away at 56 West 14th St., was owned by Isidor and Nathan Straus, the owners of Macy's at the time.
